Palma.—Last week, the Balearic business community joined forces to challenge the government over the three new green taxes which will be applied to the care hire sector, the packaging industry and hypermarkets warning that unless the government back tracks, it will take legal action.

But yesterday, the Balearic Finance Minister, Josep Ignasi Aguilo, said that the taxes are going to be introduced as planned and not postponed until after the summer and should anyone wish to try and block the government's decisions then seek legal advice.

The Bulletin has been reporting how the taxes have been criticised at home and overseas, especially the car hire tax by the Association of British Travel Agents which is worried about the extra costs which are going to be passed on to holiday makers.
