STAFF REPORTER THE economic crisis has destroyed over three quarters of jobs in the construction industry in the Balearics, but it is not the only sector of the economy to be affected as all industries are registering a downturn in job creationacross all age groups of workers.

A report released yesterday by a regional Employment and Training Ministry watchdog said that the number of people being employed between March 2008 and the same month this year plummeted by 76.90 percent
Regional minister Joana Barcelo said yesterday that last month, a total of 22'828 workers had either found a seasonal or permanent job - 6'856 less than March in 2008. There was some cause for hope, however as it was reported that the March figures this year showed that 2'222 more people found a job than during February, a rise of 10.8 percent.
