STAFF REPORTER RETAIL trade in March this year was estimated to be 1.35 percent higher than it was at the same time last year with an extra 3 million euros worth of business, but the Balearics continues to be the region of Spain with the worst sales figures, Majorca's small to medium-sized business assocation (Pimeco) said yesterday.

Pimeco said that it was the first time the year-on-year sales had risen in four years. In 2008 the sales volumes sunk by 6 million euros in comparison with those of 2007 and in March 2009, they fell by 35 million when measured against those of 2008. “There is little sign of recovery,” Pimeco said yesterday.
