NEWSDESK A new 24-hour English radio station has launched across the Balearic Islands with the aim of keeping ex-patriates informed about fiestas, events, news, local personalities and more.

Radio OneMallorca is a collaboration with English Radio Mallorca and is headed by Laura Penn and Richie Prior who return to the airwaves with their popular breakfast show from the days of Luna Radio. “It's great to be back seven days a week” says Laura Penn of English Radio Mallorca.
Laura has presented weekend programmes on Radio Marratxi on Majorca and has built a team of broadcasters producing popular shows on Saturday and Sunday mornings. These continue but now are complemented by the broadcasts of Radio OneMallorca, a radio station that is online and on mobile phones. “There is a huge demand to know what is going on here on the islands from residents and visitors alike” says Richie Prior of Radio OneMallorca “and no medium can do it better than radio”.

The station aims to have correspondents in all the Balearic Islands gathering news and information to be broadcast to listeners who can interact with the presenters to create a forum for all the islands.

As well as the return of the “Penn and Prior Breakfast Show”, the new station has world-famous DJ Des Mitchell presenting a weekday Drivetime programme and specialist shows at the weekend including the “Ex-Pat Chart”, “The Mitchell Project Sessions”, “Soul Kitchen” and the infamous “Pirates Radio Show”. “Technology has moved on quickly” says Laura Penn “Now more and more people listen to radio on the internet and with a radio adapter cable they can listen to internet radio in their cars.” Radio OneMallorca is giving away free adapter cables and car stickers in various outlets across the islands, or you can get one by contacting the station by email studio@radioonemallorca.com, call 670 704 311, email radioonemallorca on Facebook or radioonem on Twitter.
