NEARLY 1'000 guests attended the gala dinner at Es Molí des Comte, for the presentation of the Silver Siurell of the Bulletin's sister paper Ultima Hora to Personalities of the Year: Diandra Douglas, tennis aces Rafael Nadal and Carlos Moya (unable to attend because he was playing in a tournament), journalist Concha García Campoy and the Menorca Bàsquet Club, represented by its president José Luis Sintes.
The awards were presented by the presidents of the Island councils, the Mayor of Palma and Balearic leader Jaume Matas. Diandra Douglas's award was for her defence of Majorca; Concha Garcia Campoy for her distinguished career in radio and television and Nadal, Moya and Sintes for their achievements in sport.
