A MAN aged about 60 was taken to Son Llatzer national health hospital in Palma yesterday for treatment for cuts and bruises caused by two ostriches, which attacked him while he was looking for snails at Son Sureda. According to the emergency services, the incident occurred on an estate at Son Sureda, at km 3.2 of the road between Bunyola and Santa Maria. The man, who it is reported suffers from diabetes, was found by his son who had gone to search for him, worried because he had not returned, Local Police sources said. The man received assistance from the Guardia Civil, Local Police and members of the Natura Parc reserve, who kept the ostriches away while the paramedics treated the injured man. In December a man aged 64 died after being kicked in the chest by an ostrich which made him fall and hit his head.
