BACK pain is the most common cause of people being off work in Spain.
Palma will this week be hosting the annual national casualty and emergency hospital conference. Yesterday the president of the Balearic branch of the Spanish association of GP's, Miguel Angel García Marco said that while 30 percent of absentees from work are caused by back ache, 18 percent of the population suffer from chronic back pains. He will be chairing a special discussion on back pain and other common complaints in the work place.
Back ache may be the number one ailment, but head aches and migraines are the second most common complaint from employees. However, Miguel Angel García Marco said that from their experience, head aches are far more tolerable than chronic back ache. During the conference, medical experts will be discussing the various reasons for so many cases of back ache in the work place and various solutions.
