PALMA
A 78-year-old British resident in Minorca who had been reported missing by his wife on Thursday was yesterday found dead in the sea.
The alarm was raised when the missing 78-year-old's wife reported that her husband had not returned from a walk in the Es Migjorn area of the island to the Guardia Civil at 7.45pm on Thursday. The last time she had seen him was at 10am that morning. The SEIB Balearic emergency centre was contacted and an immediate search of the south of the island was mounted.

The missing Briton's vehicle, a white Fiat Blanco, was eventually located just after 11pm in a car park near Cala Mitjana and members of the Guardia and volunteers from the Civil Protection Department scoured the area until the search was postponed at 2am yesterday.
