THE Majorcan hunter who was arrested on Monday after opening fire on a Guardia Civil patrol car, housed an arsenal of weapons at properties in Canyamel and Capdepera.

The Guardia Civil have seized a number of weapons, some illegal, from the two properties including six .22 rifles, shotguns, two revolvers, a pistol and a large quantity of ammunition including 5'200 bullets.

Police also found 100 different vehicle number plates.
When the 54-year-old hunter was finally stopped and arrested, he had been driving on a set of German plates which belonged to another vehicle.
Juan Mayol, who is being held on remand, has denied that he intended to kill the officers.
He maintains he opened fire just to scare them.
The case continues.
