PALMA FOLLOWING recent deaths of motorcyclists on Majorcan roads, the Association of Motorcycle Businesses (AEMOT) is demanding that the Council of Majorca investigate the high accident rate as a matter or urgency.

With nine motorcyclists having died so far on the Island this year, AEMOT said yesterday that it wants a meeting with the Council - which is responsible for maintenance and upkeep on the Island's roads - to try and put a halt to the number of accidents.

AEMOT also said that it condemns the assumption that accidents involving motorcycles are always the fault of the motorcyclist - as opposed to car drivers - and particularly, added the association - it resents the further assumption that such accidents are always due to speeding.
