l FACED with soaring temperatures in the Balearics this June, the ministry of the environment has every piece of equipment at the ready for fighting the outbreak of fire on a “maximum alert” situation. A report made by the acting councillor for the environment, Margalida Rosselló, confirmed that in the last three weeks, three small fires have been recorded on the Islands that fortunately did not deteriorate into serious incidents because the area of land involved was limited and the flames were quickly extinguished. During a Press conference, Rosselló warned that the danger of the outbreak of uncontrolled fire had been increased due to the fierce heat - “out of character” for June - that the Islands have experienced in the last weeks.
