Palma.—Trade union representatives at the Balearic Symphony Orchestra said yesterday that they would be performing a charity concert tomorrow at the auditorium in Palma, as their industrial dispute reached new heights. The concert will take place at 9p.m.

The Symphony Orchestra should have been performing the first of their four concerts at Bellver Castle tomorrow night, one of the highlights of the classical music summer calender, to be enjoyed.

But as a result of the dispute, with musicians carrying out strike action over unpaid wages and a large workload, the concert has been cancelled, and the remaining three events (on the following Fridays) are very much in doubt.

Another concert will take place at the Son Dameto Parc in Palma on 6 July at 8p.m.
Musicians fear that the local authorities want to dismantle the orchestra and say that they are fighting for their survival at the moment.
