PALMA
THE regional Health Ministry confirmed yesterday that building at the new Son Espases hospital near the monastery of Son Real in Palma is going well and opening is scheduled to be October 2010.

Work on the state-of-the-art hospital has not ground to a halt in spite of an attempted injunction brought against the construction by the Church earlier this year, a move temporarily upheld by the Balearic Supreme Court.

The regional government appealed against the Court ruling, saying that the works were in a final stage of completion and spending on the project was running at between 10 and 12 million euros a month. Up to that point, 107 million euros had been spent on the new hospital and it required another 127 million to finish it.
