PALMA
FOR the ninth year running, the Balearic Islands are taking part in an anti-drinking and driving campaign entitled “La carretera SIN” - a reference to using the road without having had any alcohol at all.

It is an educational project focusing on the incompatibility of drinking alcohol and being at the wheel of any vehicle. The Spanish Beermakers Association, which is the driving force behind the campaign in conjunction with the Traffic department and 12 other organisations, confirmed yesterday that the promotion is running at 139 driving schools, 194 service stations, and 81 cinema halls across the country.

The Beermakers Association wants to instill in not just people who are already qualified drivers, but those who will shortly be taking their tests, that alcohol and the road simply do not go together. The Association takes the opportunity to make people aware of the varieties of non-alcoholic beer that there are on offer as an alternative.
