TO improve the traffic conditions on the Palmanova to Andratx road (C-719), which is currently undergoing major roadworks to build a new motorway, there will be various changes to the roads between Palmanova and Peguera as from tomorrow. This new road information was released yesterday from the Ministry for Public Works, Housing and Transport.
As from tomorrow there will be a provisional detour route on the section of the road between Santa Ponsa and Cala Figuera, with two lanes open on both sides of the road. When driving from Peguera to Palma there will be two lanes provisionally open on the former C-719 road up to the turn off for Palmanova, where the road joins the PM-1 motorway, according to the communique from the Ministry. For those drivers leaving Palma and heading towards Andratx, there will also be two lanes open from the end of the Palmanova motorway up to the bypass road for Santa Ponsa. According to Ministry sources, there will be a new exit road when travelling from Son Ferrer and El Toro to Andratx. This Cala Figuera turn-off will be from the Sa Porrasa road in order to join the C-719 road to reach Palmanova. From Palmanova there will be a change in road direction where drivers will have the option to take the PM-1 road to Andratx. Furthermore, drivers will be taken on a different route when travelling from Palma or Palmanova and towards Son Ferrer, El Toro and Magalluf. On this occasion drivers will have to take the suburban roads in Magalluf up to the Sa Porrassa road. As this is the most affected main road on the island this summer, next to the Inca motorway, the Ministry for Public Works, Housing and Transport, headed by Mabel Cabrer, hope that these changes will help ease the traffic chaos.
