THE Guardia Civil investigating the brutal murder of 25-year-old Romanian Ana Niculai whose charred body was found in the boot of her boyfriend's burnt out Audi A4 near Muro on Monday night, are not ruling out that the killer had an accomplice.

The murder squad continued with its exhaustive investigation yesterday but it appears they have received an important lead from an eye witness who saw a vehicle similar to the one in which the body was found driving erratically near Campos at 2pm on Monday, six hours after the young woman had been reported missing.

Police are now combing through roadside CCTV images in a bid to ascertain if the car was that of the boyfriend who had apparently lent Ana his car because hers was being repaired. According to sources close to the investigation, the police believe the suspect or suspects were known by the victim.
