Palma.—EasyJet has revealed the destinations that will be accessible for passengers catching flights from London Southend airport next year.
From April 2012, travellers will be able to fly from Southend to the Spanish hotspots of Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga, Ibiza and here in Majorca with the low-cost carrier.

Amsterdam, Belfast and Faro will also feature in easyJet's network from the airport.
Up to 70 weekly flights will be available from the airline's newest UK base, which is located a minute's walk from a new train station providing links to Liverpool Street and Stratford.

Catherine Lynn, easyJet's customer and revenue director, said: ‘This is an exciting time to be launching our routes from our newest UK base. “The airport is in a fantastic location just outside London with a fast rail link into the city. “Through offering easy and affordable travel, we expect the new routes to appeal to customers in Essex and London looking for a convenient new departure point for many top European destinations.” Southend airport managing director Alastair Welch welcomed the announcement of the routes, saying that it “really brings to life” the development of the base.

Centre of London
He also said that the airport is looking to make the most of the Olympics.
The new easyJet connections mean that people flying into England from Majorca will be able to get even closer to the centre of London from next year.
With BA's CityFlyer services from London City Airport to Palma proving a success, getting into London has never been so easy.
