THE Palma city council announced yesterday that over the next few weeks, municipal gardeners will be cutting down various date palms in the city as “they are in danger of falling down.” A spokesman said that during an inspection made prior to the summer pruning of the palm trees, several which had been about to fall had been spotted. He confirmed that two trees had actually fallen down in recent weeks. Neighbours will be informed 24 hours in advance. And notices will be posted so that pedestrians and people who usually park their cars in the area can take precautions.
