Son Servera.—The local council and residents in Son Servera have become increasingly angry over the Balearic government's announcement that it has brought the works on the Manacor to Arta rail line to a temporary halt.

Mayor Josep Barrientos explained yesterday that the initial earth works to make room for the new tram-style train running through Son Servera on its way to Arta has meant that the town has been cleft in two. He said that townsfolk are planning a mass movement down to Palma to protest outside the government offices, demanding that the rail line be finished according to an agreement between Central and regioanl authorities dating back to 2008.

The unfinished rail track has cut Son Servera's road link with Cala Millor and triggered traffic chaos.
