Palma.—The National Police Organised Crime Squard in Palma have broken up a gang of Paraguayans who were operating a cocaine and heroin sales and distribution racket in the infamous Palma suburb of Son Banya..

According to police sources, so-called Operation Larissa had been set up last February, monitoring the dealings of the Paraguayans with various gypsy clans who control drug trafficking in Son Banya.

One of the Paraguayans, R.A.C. distributed the drugs after their wholesale purchase to his compatriots at other points in the suburb where small scale dealing continued. The Paraguayan organisation was also making use of so-called “mules” from Nigeria who swallow capsules containing drugs in their home country in order not to arouse suspicion at inbound airports.
