A report published in Britain this week claims that an increasing number of British holiday makers are bored of sun and sea holidays and would prefer to enjoy an activity holiday.

The research carried out by Mintel has discovered that Britons want to go on educational holidays as opposed to the beach.
Over a third of 2'000 adults questioned claim that investigating and reading up on a destination is a crucial part of their holidays.
One in five apparently enjoy learning a new skill during their holidays and six out of ten adults claim to have visited a museum while on vacation. According to the Mintel report, the three fastest growing educational holidays are photography, cookery and dance - three things Majorca could easily offer.

The growth in the educational holiday market is being fuelled by the increase in the number of specialist travel agents and products, the Internet holiday revolution and the availability of more active and educational holidays which are within easy reach by using low cost airlines.

According to Mintel's research conclusion, 24 percent of British adults would like to learn a skill while on holiday, so there is plenty of room for further development.

The report comes out at a time when the Balearics tourist industry is trying to adjust itself to the changing travel habits and position itself well to quickly bounce back after the current recession.
