Flaquer denies rejection of proposals

THE Balearic Minister for Tourism, Joan Flaquer, yesterday denied that half of the 101 proposals presented for the reform of the Playa de Palma have been rejected by the Secretary of State for Tourism. He was speaking after a report analysing the proposals, published by the Secretariat, said that these could not be done by the consortium created to oversee the modification of the area. Flaquer said that he attended a meeting with the different sectors and was not aware of that conclusion.
He was referring to the meeting which had taken place in the Balearic Ministry attended by representatives of the different entities which form the consortium. “It would be easiest to discuss this question with the Government Representtive and ask him what was said”, he said. He insisted that “it is not true that the proposals have been rejected”, referring to the document in which the Secretary of State for Tourism (which is representing the Spanish Government in the remodelling project) said that 51 of the proposals had been accepted.
