PALMA city council will invest a total of 9.88 million euros to build diverse infrastructures, social and sports, in the Ponent suburb and in Playa de Palma. This investment will be split between the two areas of Palma, with the Ponent area receiving around 5.79 million euros, confimred a spokesperson from Palma city council. This money will be spent on building a centre for the area at Son Matet, a sports pavillon, a football field, an indoor swimming pool in San Agustin and a park in Son Vigo. On the other hand, Playa de Palma will invest approximately 4.09 million euros on diverse initiatives, such as a centre for the area in Son Parera, an indoor swimming pool in Toni Servera, new street lighting and a public area along calle Bernat Visca. Furthermore, the surface of the pavements and public street lighting towards carretera Militar, avenida America, Bellavista development and Torrent Jueus, will be improved. The centre in Son Matet will involve renovations to the inside of a building with a ground floor and basement. There will be two social and cultural areas and some store rooms, when the work has been finished.The total cost of this centre will be 264'000 euros. The centre in Son Parera will also be on two levels and requires interior renovations, with a budget of around 580'000 euros. The work for both centres will start next month, and will last between 9 and 12 months.
