PAGUERA residents are up in arms over the precarious state of the sports centre. People who use the centre complain that the bar has been closed for three months and the steps at the side of the playing field are in a state of neglect. The families of the children who play in the lower divisions of Paguera football club and who accompany them to matches and training sessions, say that the only toilets they can use are those in the changing rooms, as the public toilets are in the bar area and the bar is closed. They are also complaining that the closure of the bar is depriving the youngsters of refreshment after their training sessions and are demanding that, at least, a drinks machine should be installed. Calvia council sources from the Sports Department said that the closure of the bar was due to the fact that the company holding the concession had decided to discontinue the service in July. Now they are preparing to award the contract to another company. These same sources said that the awarding of the contract for the running of the bar could be resolved within a week.
