THE Catalan pop-rock groups of the Balearic islands Amb una mica de sort, Familia Lopez (Majorca), Inventari, Samurada&Voltios (Minorca), and Pota Lait (Ibiza), will today participate in the 8th edition of the festival Balearic Islands in Concert in Barcelona. This will take place from midnight in the Sala Boveda in Barcelona. This festival, organised by the Balearic Ministry of Education and Culture in collaboration with the Department of Language Policy, was presented yesterday by the Director General of Culture, Catalina Sureda, who was accompanied by Miquel Melia, Director General of Language Policy; Jose Luis Benejam, organiser of the festival; and various representatives of the musical groups. Sureda explained that, with these types of initiatives, the Balearic Government is seeking to promote and stimulate the use of Catalan in the area of artistic creation in the Balearic Islands, taking music made in our language and our region outside of the islands.
