A 12-year-old Great Ormond Street Hospital Leukaemia patient who broke the hearts of the thousands of people who attended this year's Pirates Adventure Charity Premiere in Magalluf, will tonight be one of the stars of ITV's the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards show.

Jake Peach and his family were one of the six invited by First Choice for a holiday in Majorca last May and to attend the Pirates charity show and tonight he will be presented with his Child of Courage honour.

Jake, of Southend, Essex, spent a month in a coma this time last year after being diagnosed and had to learn to walk and speak again.
Just like here in Majorca, his story left many of the celebrity names in the audience at the award ceremony close to tears. Since then, he has not only won the battle to speak and walk again, he has also raised over 600'000 pounds for GOSH. Phil Saint of Pirates said yesterday, “There wasn't a dry eye left in the house, he's a really special kid. Congratulations from us all.”
