STAFF REPORTER THE particularly warm weather over the public holiday weekend was unusual but not unknown, reported state weather agency (AEMET) spokesman, Angel Rivera yesterday.

He said that temperatures had been “between two and three degrees centigrade below” the absolute maximum figures registered for this time of year since records began.

However, this October was by no means proving to be a “normal one” because of the lack of rain and mild temperatures.” he explained. “But, there have been hotter Octobers than this one,” he added.
Rivera said that as far as the AEMET was concerned, of much more significance were the weather conditions registered over the weekend of 3rd and 4th October when record overnight high temperatures were recorded over much of Spain.

Rivera said that for the whole of this week, an anticyclone over the country will keep weather fine.
