STAFF REPORTER EXCURSION groups and neighbourhood associations have joined forces to call on local Majorcan authorities to create a link route between Palma and the so-called Dry Stone hiking walkway across the Tramuntana mountains from Andratx to Pollensa.

The campaign has taken the form of a series of proposals made by enthusiasts to be included in the Council of Majorca's “Special Plan” which regulates the use of the Dry Stone Route and whose presentation to the public came to an end last Friday. The excursion groups are asking that within the catalogue of public walkways, one is made available which links the city of Palma with the start of the Dry Stone Route in Calvia. The proposal has been looked on favourably by the Council's Environment department under the leadership of Guillem Riera - so much so, that work has already begun on liaising with Palma City Council to develop the project.
