WALKERS groups have been up in arms over what they see as attempts to block a public right of way on the Ternelles country estate in Pollensa.. Last Sunday, two officers from the regional ministry for the Environment went out to confront an excursion group lobby who were keen to give a high profile to keeping the right of way on the estate open. The walkers say that they are defending bylaws enshrined in the Spanish constitution and that the ministry is not within its rights to impede them. The ministry said the officers were merely there to advise the walkers that the land is under special environmental protection.
