CAPDEPERA
A 75-year-old man was found dead yesterday in the Canyamel water course (torrent) at Capdepera in northeast Majorca.
The Guardia Civil have opened an investigation into the nature of his death and today an autopsy will be carried out. The discovery comes just 24 hours after another body had been located floating in the sea three kilometres off sa Foradada between Deya and Soller.

At approximately just before 8am yesterday morning, a cook at the hotel Castell Royal was walking across the bridge which straddles the torrent and came across the body in the water.

The man raised the alarm which was responded to by local police in Capdepera, a doctor, the Guardia Civil and the Majorcan fire service whose officers were responsible for getting the body out of the water.

The area of the find was cordonned off so that no-one could approach the scene and possibly destroy evidence which had not yet been sifted. An initial examination of the body, however, failed to show signs of violence.
