STAFF REPORTER FOR the third year running, an art festival “Art i Copes” will be taking place in Sa Pobla tomorrow. The event is the brainchild of painter Ferran Piza who became inspired to take artistic creativity out into the streets and closer to people who might not otherwise have a chance to appreciate it. This year, for the first time, the organisation has been undertaken by Sa Pobla Town Council.

The name of the festival “Art i Copes” literally means “art with a drink” so as well as taking place in the town's main exhibition centres, art is also going to be on display in bars and even individual households from 8pm until midnight. Eighteen artists will be showing their work, amongst them Josep Maria Alaminos, Guillem Crespi, Toni Mandilego and Ferran Piza himself. The official opening will take place at 8pm in the Can Planes museum in Sa Pobla which will be hosting a collection of works by artists who are resident on Majorca.

In Can Calent, meanwhile, visitors can see the work of Pep Cirer, Piza will be exhibiting in Can Nadal, Andreu Company is sa Taverneta where Tomeu Piña will also be presenting his book El ángel del Fin del mundo (The angel from the end of the world). The front part of the Town Hall building will be used to display works by Maria Antonia Mir and Andreu Aguilo. North American resident in Ullaró, Alice Morse will be showing her work in Bar Vaumer. From midnight onwards, there will be a live concert of music by The Other Sky.
