PALMA
THE search for a member of the Territorial Army who went missing in the hills near Can Picafort in the north east of Majorca a week ago continued yesterday with relatives of Jaqueline Tennant, including her sister Monique, putting posters of the missing Briton up in the popular holiday resort.

Forty-five-year-old Tennant spent this summer working as a Resort Representative for a British tour operator in the popular holiday destination and was mainly responsible for children's swimming classes and activities.

Friends and colleagues of her in Can Picafort have described her as a very fit and active person with a great interest in hiking and exploring. Last Tuesday was her day off and Tennant had decided to spend the day hiking up one of the many hills in the area. A colleague made contact with her just before midday, just as she was nearing the summit. Since then, nothing has been heard of Tennant. The alarm was raised on Tuesday night after she failed to return to the resort accommodation she shared with two other reps.

Her room was littered with maps of the region and she appears to have been well prepared for the many hikes she enjoyed during her days off this summer. Her passport, clothes and all other personal items remain in her room.

In fact, Tennant was due to have returned home to the UK this week and then jet off on holiday to Jamaica. But, no one knows exactly where she went last Tuesday or what she was wearing.

Two members of her family flew to Majorca at the start of this week to join the search and they have spent the past two days putting up posters of Tennant in and around Can Picafort.

Anyone with any information is urged to either call Pollensa Police, who are handling the search, on 971 523022 or the 112 emergency number.
The family hope that Tennant's photograph may jog someone's memory, in particular the scores of hikers and cyclists who flock to the area at this time of year.
