Palma.—The crew on board a Port of Andratx-based fishing vessel reported a body floating face down in the sea yesterday morning.
The body was found some eleven miles out of the Port in waters near the isle of Dragonera just after 8.30am.

The alarm was raised and the Guardia Civil maritime unit based in the Port of Soller took care of the salvage operation.
According to Guardia Civil and 112 emergency service sources, the body was in a state of advanced decomposition which was making it extremely complicated to identify the body or even establish its sex.

No arms or legs
However, it was later confirmed that the body was male but forensics are going to have to carry out an extensive study of the body in order to uncover any more information.

The body had no legs nor arms. According to forensic sources, that process could take the best part of a month during which time the Guardia Civil are going to open their own investigation.

Once plucked out of the sea, the body was transferred to the Port of Andtratx where it was then taken to Forensic Institute in Palma.
On Monday, the body of a 65-year-old Belgian tourist who was reported missing last Friday by her husband was found trapped between the rocks off Cala Bona.

The Guardia Civil are continuing to investigate that case as well.
