Palma.—After finding the 24-year-old woman with between three to four stab wounds in her chest at around 9pm on Monday night, the Guardia Civil later arrested her ex boyfriend, Zouhair A., a 37-year-old Moroccan on suspicion of killing her.

He is now being held in police cells at Palma headquarters until his appearance before a magistrate either today or tomorrow after an autopsy of the victims's body has been completed.

A duty magistrate has already opened a file on the case which in the first instance, appears to be one of domestic violence.
Sources close to the investigation yesterday identified the victim as Nuria Orol Sarabia, confirming that she died in her home on Avenida Gabriel Roca in Andratx.

Court sources said that there is no record of the deceased having made any previous official complaints over her ex partner's treatment of her.
The death of Nuria Orol Sarabia comes just hours after statistics were released by Balearic courts showing that 206 protection orders were afforded to women in the Islands in the second quarter of this year as a result of domestic violence.

Records show that the Balearics has the third highest rate of domestic violence in Spain, with 19.46 cases for every 10'000 head of female population.
Of the 658 protection orders offered by regional courts, only 407 have been accepted, meaning that 38 percent of victims have declined help. The number of women declining help in the Balearics is 4% more than the Spanish national average.
