Palma

.—While most of the resort workers woke up yesterday with a hangover, six were in various Palma hospitals and clinics after having been stabbed during a mass street fight in the early hours of the morning.

Apparently, at 3.30am, an argument broke out in one of the bars along Punta Ballena which was hosting an end of season/Halloween party.

Bottles, chairs and tables began to fly before a group of about 20 British resorts workers took the dispute out into the street and a mass fight broke out.

In the heat of the moment, one of those involved in the fight, believed to be a 25-year-old Portuguese DJ, drew out a knife and stabbed six fellow Britons.

Four of the victims were taken to Son Espases and Son Llatzer hospitals, two remained in critical conditions last night, while the other two were treated at the medical centre in Santa Ponsa.

The Local Police were on the scene within minutes and three ambulances were called as soon as they realised that a knife was involved and people had been stabbed.

The 25-year-old dic jockey was arrested and escorted by the Local Police to the medical centre in Santa Ponsa for treatment.

He remained in custody yesterday while the Guardia Civil, who are now in charge of the case, began questioning the injured in the various hospitals in order to get a clear idea of how events unfolded and why the 25-year-old began stabbing people.
