THE Hotel Palas Atenea in Palma resounded to much shaking and stirring yesterday when it played host to the National Cocktail Championships for both professional and aspiring barmen.
There were 32 candidates in all, two from each province of Spain. Winners will go forward to the World Championships to be held in Singapore.
The competition is part of an annual Congress on Cocktail Preparation organised by the Barmen's Association of the Balearics (ABB).
Also collaborating in the event which draws to a close tomorrow, is Palma City Council's professional training institute, IMFOF whose President Councillor Cristina Cerdò will be presiding over proceedings as the Matron of Honour. The contest will form the backbone of the Congress which is sponsored by both the regional Ministry for Tourism and the Council of Majorca.
