PALMA
MAJORCA honoured its dead yesterday as an estimated 40'000 people made the pilgrimage to local cemeteries to lay flowers in remembrance of lost friends and family.

Palma cemetery was a kaleidoscope of colours and a steady flow of people laid flowers throughout the day.
With so many people marking All Saints in Palma, an increasing number of people pay their respects the day before but yesterday, the mayor of Palma Aina Calvo, accompanied by fellow councillors and local dignitaries, presided over an official wreath laying ceremony.

At 11am the traditional ecumenical service was held with Dr. George Giri representing the Anglican Church.
The city council laid on free parking, extra public buses and extra police to minimalise any problems.
