PALMA'S Mayor, Aina Calvo, announced yesterday that a decision is to be made later this month as to whether or not to continue allowing the practice of street drinking parties, known locally as the botellon, along the city sea front. From the middle of this month onwards, said Calvo, we'll be setting up round-table discussions involving the civic organisations who are most affected by this practice, to come to an agreement on what is to be done. The Mayor said that the debate, over which she will preside, will involve representation from neighbourhood associations; the hotels, bars and restaurant sector, boating associations and the Balearic Ports Authority.
