LONDON
AT the World Travel Market in London yesterday, the Balearic government presented an agenda of “shock tactics” to kick start the region's tourist industry seen to be ailing as a result of the global credit crunch.

The Islands' president Francesc Antich said on the occasion of Balearic Day at the Travel Fair that although all holiday destinations will be affected to a greater or lesser degree by the threat of an economic slow down, “we in the Islands are going to convert the challenges of today into the opportunity of tomorrow.” Antich added after visiting the Balearic stand on the third day of the event that tourism is the driving force of the regional economy and must remain “the focus of attention” in “these times of crisis.”
