PALMA
THE Balearic government is going to take on Ryanair over the low cost Irish airline's continual refusal to offer Balearic residents the travel discount they are entitled to on domestic flights.

There have been a large number of complaints made to the Director General of Air and Marine Transport in the Balearics about Ryanair's behaviour by a host of airlines operating out of the region and offering the discount and the Director General, Joana Maria Amengual, has now decided to take the matter up with Spain's Civil Aviation.

Amengual intends to demand that, unless Ryanair complies with the law an introduces the resident discount, Civil Aviation fines the Irish airline, removes its operating license and suspends its takeoff and landing slots at the Spanish airports where it operates.
