THE Council of Majorca is investing 3 million euros in reforming the road between Festival Park and Bunyola. Plans are that the road should be used by outlying areas of Majorca as an access to the Balearic University (UIB).

The rebuilding programme will be a major one and whilst under way, the road will be closed to traffic except residents. Gonzalo Agujiar, Roads Director on the Council of Majorca said yesterday that the Festival Park to Bunyola road will be “virtually new.” He said it had been in a poor state of repair for many years and had been the site of many accidents.

He added that the route carries a significant amount of traffic coming from the north and central districts of the island wanting to get to the university. The Council plans that once the road upgrade is complete, traffic from outlying areas heading to the UIB can come off the Inca motorway at Festival Park in the direction of Bunyola.
