CALVIA Council is aiming to privatise the municipal drinking water supply for the next 50 years. The move however, has met with opposition by local authority company “Calvia 2000” who currently manage the service and its workers are mobilising against the plans.

The water supply privatisation project being spearheaded by Partido Popular Mayor in Calvia, Carlos Delgado, would mean an initial award of 15 million euros to the successful bidder and a five percent bonus from all income during the time the supply is privately managed.
