Road closed THE old road to Lluc has been closed at several points as it passes through the municipalities of Pollensa and Escorca, according to Gabriel Cerda, PSM (Majorcan Socialist Party) spokesman on the Pollensa council. He said that a campaign would soon be launched to put an end to the walls built across the roads, often illegally. The Council of Majorca wants to include the old road to Lluc in its new guide for hikers, and has recently negotiated an alternative route with land owners, to prevent hikers getting too close to private homes. But Cerda said that it was intolerable that public roads should be closed. THE town council has organised its 18th Christmas shop counter competition, with four prizes totalling 15'000 euros. It is open to all establishments with counters which can be seen from the street and entries can be registered until 1.30pm on December 30. Choice of theme is free, but preference will be given to those related to Christmas. Originality and creativity will also be taken into account. THE children's choir of the Teatro Principal Foundation of Palma will give a concert at the Llorens Villalonga Museum at 8pm today. They will be accompanied on the piano, an 1868 Boisselot grand piano, by Raul Lopez. The programme will include songs on a Christmas theme and works from the film The Chorus.
