THE job of the opposition is to oppose the government but at the same time it has a responsibility similar to that of the government. In these hard economic times any good news should be celebrated by all especially if it involves the economy. There was some good news yesterday, the British economy is growing again and growing well. After four years of economic heartache you would have thought that everyone would be happy, everyone except Ed Balls, the Shadow Chancellor. Mr. Balls, who was first hand knowledge of the economic slump in 2008 (because he was in the Treasury) spent the morning effectively trying to  talk down the economic reccovery, Now, Iuse the words “talk down” very carefully because it is his job to shadow Chancellor George Osborne but he went over the top. He should have congratulated the Chancellor on the growth figures and he should have agreed that the economy is on the mend. But not Mr. Balls. He was busy telling anyone who would listen that the coalition´s economic plan was not working and the recovery was built on consumer spending and house prices.  It is not a proper recovery according to Mr. Balls. But it is a recovery, Mr. Balls and after the mess that you left the government´s finances in, you should at least do the honourable thing and give credit where it is due. The recovery has finally arrived and thankfully Mr. Balls is sitting on the  opposition benches and not at the Treasury.
