Businesses all over Marratxi have been eagerly anticipating a decision by the Balearic Government that could change  trade in the area.

Marratxi.— Should the authorities decide to declare the municipality an “Area of Great Tourism Affluence”, businesses could soon be allowed to open their doors on Sundays.
Should the Economy and Trade department accept the petition the local council made on behalf of Marratxi traders, commercial experts estimate the move could generate 550 new jobs in the area.
According to them, between 125 and 150 new jobs would be created immediately to cover the extra day’s work, with  a further 300/400 new positions depending on investment made in  the retailer sector. Should takings rise, as it’s being predicted,  the latter option looks certain.
