Palma.—The Secretary of State for Energy, Alberto Nadal, confirmed yesterday that if any prospecting does go ahead in Balearic waters, it will be for gas, not oil as initially feared by environmentalists, the tourist industry, the local community and the Balearic government.
Nadal made the comments ahead of a business strategy conference at the Confederation of Balearic Business Associations (CAEB).
The statement also supports what the Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Borrego said at the ITB trade fair in Berlin last week.
She also said that the prospecting would be for gas not oil.
