Palma.—According to Spain’s Weather Agency (AEMET), weather forecasts for that week revealed yesterday show it could well be a typical Spring week: unpredictable.

Maximum temperatures in Majorca could reach between 18 to 20 degrees centigrade, with minimums of between 7.5 and 11.5 degrees.

There is a 20 to 40 percent chance of rain.

The chance of strong winds has been set at 16 percent , with the possibility of storms reduced to four percent.

These predictions from AEMET are based on a study of weather patterns between 1981 and 2013 in Porto Pi and at Palma airport, where two of Majorca’s weather observatories are located.

The highest temperature registered in Palma during Easter week over the last 32 years was 27 degrees.

The minimum recorded by Palma airport’s observatory was -0.4 degrees.

The coldest year was in 1986, with an average temperature of 10.6 degrees. The warmest was in 2000 (16.4 degrees).

Rain fall has also varied throughout the years.

If last year it did not rain, 1981 goes down in history as the wettest Easter week registered by the two observatories during that period.

AEMET also revealed that on average it rains more on 14 and 15 April and less on 17 and 18 April.
