Trade unions  yesterday rallied Balearic population to join a mass protest against  financial austerity and budget cuts tonight in Plaza España from 7p.m.

Palma.—Unions want to propose “ a change of direction for the region’s policies to the one that encourages financial investment and the creation of new jobs”.
“Austerity measures have only resulted in the loss of jobs, bringing poverty to citizens and changing working conditions for the worse,” Jose Garcia from one of the unions who will be present in tonight’s protest said yesterday.
“We want two percent of the European GDP in the next 10 years to turn this situation around, revitalise the economy and create new job positions.”
