Palma.—The ongoing dispute between Balearic teachers and the local government regarding education policies met another chapter yesterday.
A petition including over 2,100 signatures in support of the teachers cause, requesting the president of the local government Jose Ramon Bauza to sit down and discuss the tutors concerns, was yesterday delivered to the leader of the Balearic Government.
The initiative came from Nicolau Dols, teacher at the Philosophy and Languages Faculty of the University of the Balearics, acting as a spokesman for Jaume Sastre, fellow teacher, who went on hunger strike last month in protest against the current situation.
“The current conflict is now on a terrible path,” Dols said.
“It’s quite evident as we have someone on hunger strike for 28 days now.
