Palma’s Congress Centre Hotel will be finished by February at the latest, the architect responsible for the project said yesterday.
That is five months before the initial deadline and eight months before the completion of the works on the centre itself.
Several local politicians have said in the past they expect the centre to be ready by July 2015, but Patxi Mangado see the date as “highly unlikely”. Mangado explained: Firstly, August is a very low flexibility month to work, so I think the works and the team won’t be at full steam until September.
“We have also ran out of the aluminum that will be used to cover the walls of the centre since the works have been stopped for two years,” he added.
“At first we thought this could have delayed the deadline even further but that problem has now been solved, but even so, July 2015 looks unlikely.”
